So I have stated that I don’t BAKE but… for very special people I sometimes make an exception. Today is my boss’ birthday and this is the perfect cake for her so… I Baked. This is an age old recipe from a Bon Appetit magazine from May 1982 – Triple Chocolate Cake.
Ingredients: Devil’s food cake mix, chocolate pudding, 4 eggs (room temperature), 3/4c sour cream, 1/2c oil, 1/2c water, 1/4c mayo, 3Tbsp Tuaca, 1c chocolate chips, 1/2c slivered almonds.
Grease a bundt pan but instead of using flour, coat with unsweetened cocoa powder – mix together the first 8 ingredients until smooth then add the chips & almonds and mix until incorporated.
Bake in a 350-degree oven for approximately 55-60 minutes until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Let sit in the pan for 10 minutes and then turn out onto a drying rack. Dust with powdered sugar.
The original recipe serving suggestion was with whipped cream, which is how I have always served it.
Very rich and dense cake and one of the family favorites… I made it for my best friend’s birthday for years but haven’t made it in a long time. It was nice to have it again. Yum!
