My son’s girlfriend who was visiting from Georgia, Shannon, volunteered to cook Sunday Roast this week. It was an amazing Korean dinner – absolutely Delicious!
First the spicy sauce, which needed to sit and “marinade”. Fresh garlic, sesame oil, and a couple types of red pepper
Also a marinade for the green onions which included sesame oil, kosher salt, garlic, and red pepper
Leaf lettuce – large leaves, washed and ready to go
Samgyeopsal is Unsalted bacon (pork belly) fairly thickly sliced – the kids picked up many of the ingredients at a local Asian market – they always have this type of meet on-hand.
Special pan – this would normally sit on the table so people could cook it themselves. There is a bit of pork fat in the cup on the top. The black dome sits on top of a ring that holds water where the grease goes – this means that the dome gets very hot but the meat is not cooking in the grease and the water helps keep the grease from igniting.
The strips of meat were cut into smaller, bite-sized pieces.
The pieces of meat were layered on
Shannon working hard on dinner
The meat was cooked until fairly crispy, sorta like bacon
Pajeori: green onions were marinating in the red pepper and sesame oil mixture
Wrap it
and eat !
Putting these together is serious work – although Angela was still able to hide her face from the camera!
DESSERT: My Heart’s concoction: Sesame crepes with mascarpone, slices of kiwi, ice cream, chocolate sauce
Then topped with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and a bit more kiwi
And topped with a few caramelized pralines
Absolutely delicious finish to a wonderful dinner.
