My Heart made this tomato soup for me a couple years ago and we haven’t had it in a long time but I really like it (and I am not a huge tomato soup fan). It seemed like a good dinner after his first day back on the slopes teaching little ones the joy of skiing!
The tomato soup was condensed so instead of a whole can of water I used that bottle of orange juice, which wasn’t quite a full can .. making it a little thicker. Just simply heated up in a sauce pan
I haven’t bought gluten-free bread before because it is ridiculously expensive (most 8oz loaves are in the $5 range) and, fortunately, I am not a big sandwich eater but grilled cheese just goes with tomato soup, at least in America. This loaf was relatively inexpensive (at $2.99) and was sorta “soft”.. the other loaves are solid and heavy.. more like bricks.
I did not do the traditional American cheese slices.. instead slices of Colby – the bread was still a little dry & crumbly but not bad with the warm, melty cheese and the butter for “toasting”
I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of dinner plated up (we were hungry) but you can see the lovely color of the soup – truly… try Orange Tomato soup.. it is delicious. AND, the last time we were at the grocery store I noticed that Campbell’s has come out with a new Harvest Orange Tomato condensed soup but I would still recommend just making your own. YUM!
