How the Internet Enables Intimacy – TED Talks

This talk totally captured my attention. How often do we hear someone say that they think it’s wrong that students IM during class? Should people be “allowed” to Tweet at games, during lectures, during conferences? Does your employer block Facebook, IM, Twitter?

I think about how I use these different forms of communication during the day – emailing coworkers information, emailing a recipe home, IM’ing my kids – they are at work also or at home, brief messages from friends or students on Facebook – questions about a meeting or something at the University or just a hello, and sending a quick IM or email to my Heart to let him know that I am thinking about him. It is how we stay connected and we need that Connection.
