…. but also swans with babies – I loved how mom and dad were basically swimming with the cygnets Between them… very cool !
We stopped at the Cambridge American Cemetery & Memorial on our way Stratford. It was a somber and beautiful tribute to the Americans who lost their lives in WWII. In the reflecting pool there were some very tiny baby ducks.
Walking around Burton-on-the-Water I spotted this little bird… this isn’t zoomed, he just let me get this close. I loved seeing scotty dogs!
My Heart’s mom’s dog, Poppy, is a Labradoodle and a really great dog. There were tons of guests in the house and Poppy was totally chill.
Driving in Exmoor – the sheep were totally free-range on the roads.
We wandered around Cheddar Gorge (Somerset) and stopped for lunch, fish & chips (YUM). Some ducks came to see if we would share (pigeons & seagulls too but the ducks my favorite!)
Still in Cheddar Gorge, a proper English Spaniel and another duck – the location was so pretty I had to take a picture!
There are wild Exmoor ponies roaming the moors, much like the Chincoteague ponies. I already had sheep pics but these were REALLY fluffy sheep!
A parrot in the Foresters Arms in Dunster – I didn’t understand what he was saying but the landlord kept apologizing for it swearing. LOL
Another day traveling the moors – I think it is interesting, most of the pastures we passed that had cattle were mixed breeds. Generally in the states you see only one breed in a pasture. We came over a hill and there was a group of students on a trail ride. As we passed this farm, we all laughed… this guinea hen REALLY wanted into the pen with the chickens… it just kept pacing back and forth.
We were trying to find the Speedway track in Burnham-on-Sea (near Bridgewater) and stumbled across this field of cows. The “pig” calf (that’s what the kids & I call the black & white stripped cows) was really cute & fuzzy and definitely was checking us out.
There is a story behind these photos of the sheep. I made my Heart stop at this church that had a pasture with these sheep on our way to Stratford (we had seen it the night before). As I was taking the picture the lamb (pic 1) walked under the trees – bowed his head (pic 2) and butted heads with the older sheep who was lying down (pic 3 & 4) – it was hysterical. I wished that I had been doing a video instead because it was so cute.
Lots and lots of geese and swans in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The cranes in Regent’s Park (London) were beautiful and obviously very used to people… and dogs. I was really surprised to see the birds so close to the woman on the bench and her dog.
(Regent Park) Cute squirrel – this is without the zoom… it let me get that close and was pretty focused on the woman who was feeing it.
(Regent Park) This coot was sitting on a nest (the eggs are to the right of the bird on the nest) and her mate kept bringing her pieces of sticks and grass to add to the nest – it was a fascinating process.
The last of the pics – still in Regent Park. I believe these are types of wood ducks – there were lots of different varieties of ducks & geese in the park.
