First – breakfast: Overnight Sausage & Egg Casserole from Our Best Bites.

I halved the recipe because there are just four of us, I didn’t want a lot of leftovers, and I didn’t have a larger dish!  Everything turned out Perfect and it was delicious!!
Next the turkey – the stuffing was toasted bread cubes, chopped celery and onion, cooked ground pork sausage, poultry seasoning, fresh ground pepper and a dash of triple sec.

Slices of orange tucked under the skin and a citrus rub to add flavor and keep everything moist.

The first bottles of sparkling wine during breakfast and opening presents.  One thing I’ve never noted before.  My Heart makes little Edwardian chairs and tables out of the tops of the sparkling wine bottles (see next to the bottles).  The cool part about this are little momentos of special occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, Tuesdays. (smile)  We have quite the collection.

Lunch was sausage rolls and cheese & crackers and French bread and our third bottle of sparkling wine.

The filling for the mincemeat pie.  A jar of mincemeat pie filling with additional chopped fresh apples, pecans, almonds, raisins, and a dash of armagnac.

Dinner served: turkey, stuffing, roasted root vegetables (turnips & parsnips roasted with sliced orange, a touch of olive oil and salt & pepper), Potato & Spinach Mandolin (a take on Pan Haggerty with the addition of shredded cheese and spinach leaves), and a drizzle of Old English orange marmalade with a dash of Triple Sec for the turkey.
Dessert: mincemeat pie ala mode and “GI Joe”, which was a tremendously stupid movie… which explains why I didn’t take a picture of the pie – sucked the brains right out of me. (smile)
Everything was delicious and the day was quiet and lovely family time.  Thanks to my Heart for making life peaceful and wonderful.
Happy Holidays everyone!
