Burritos experiment #2 – BBQ

Here is Burrito experiment #2 — I did not take pictures of experiment #1 but it was pretty successful and contained: ground beef, onions, rice, refried beans, salsa, shredded cheese and sour cream. This is experiment #2

Out of kindness to my stomach I am using Brown Rice tortillas for my burrito and traditional flour tortillas for my Heart. The La Banderita brand tortillas are my favorite, at least here in Maryland. They are truly soft and do not dry out and are closest to the ones we used to buy when we lived in Monterey, CA.

Ingredients: shredded Mexican cheese (a mixture of cheeses that melt beautifully – I use this type all the time), canned pinto beans that included roasted peppers and onions, light sour cream, medium salsa (Wegmans brand), Famous Dave’s BBQ sauce – my Heart likes the BBQ style burritos at Qdoba so that’s the inspiration

Ground pork sausage (1/2 lb – reserved from the 1lb I cooked earlier in the week and used for the pasties), chopped onion, cooked rice, a sprinkling of taco seasoning

All layered together and ready for grilling

Not bad – looks pretty authentic

Sadly the gluten-free does Not do well in the folding process – so more Burrito-Style! I added some cheese to the top because I am going to microwave it to make it warm and less “stiff” (and eat really fast! sigh)
